Jason Winters

Jason Winters has been leading worship and writing worship music since 1996. He started leading worship for the youth group of Mountain View Community Church in Ramona California. He then moved into leading a contemporary rock service on Sunday mornings. Also during this time Jason played in a punk rock band called Nothing Special who played mostly in San Diego for 3 years and released a self titled album. He then played in a hardcore band called Fallen Out who release an album called "refined". This band toured the west coast three times then stopped playing in 2004. In 2005, after graduating from Christian Heritage College with a B.A. in Bible and Music, he became the Worship Pastor at Mountain View Community Church.
Since then, he has developed the Worship Ministry at MVCC and has grown in his worship leading and song writing. In 2010 he released his first Live worship album entitled "Jason Winters LIVE with the MVCC Worship Band". The album includes all original worship songs written by Jason and a couple by his sister Jessica Winters. Jason is now releasing his first studio worship album in February 2015.
"I hope my music will inspire the listener to prize Christ above all and encourage them to draw near to God in effort to know and live for Him better" says Jason. All of the songs are written with the intent of inviting others to sing along. Jason encourages the singers to sing these songs as prayers to God. Some celebrate the new life that we receive from God, some remind us where we would be without Him, and others encourage us to surrender everything to God's perfect plan.
Jason leads worship from behind an electric guitar and usually plays with several other musicians when he leads. Some of his influences are Phil Wickham, Fred Hammond, Israel Houghton, Lincoln Brewster, and Third day. In his music you will find the rock/alternative style with the ability to bring the music to a calm worshipful atmosphere that allows the worshipers to really contemplate the words they are saying to God. Jason often shares what the Lord puts on his heart during and in between songs to better lead the people to a deeper understanding of what God wants them to know or do in response to His calling. "Worship doesn't stop when the music ends, it needs to continue on into the next day and next week. If we willingly lived out the words that we say to God when we sing to him, the world would be a different place" says Jason.
Jason leads worship almost every Sunday at Mountain View Community Church in Ramona Ca. The services at 9am and 10:45am. He has lead worship at Campus By The Sea High School Camp in Catalina. He has lead worship for bible studies, youth groups, concerts, Converge Conferences, camps, men's ministries, colleges, and special church services. He is always looking for ways to share his music and help lead others to the throne of God, and into a deeper committed relationship with Jesus.
